Around 1930, Gabriele D’Annunzio purchased a set of black and red goblets for everyday use in his residence at Gardone Riviera, Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, where they are still preserved today. A style with a distinct Decò sensibility—one that recurs throughout many of the glassworks' collections. The most appreciated among these goblets, for its informal and joyful presence on the table, was the Serie Francesca, selected in 1935 by Angelo Fasce to complete his functionalist table, L’Autarca, now housed at the Wolfsoniana in Genoa.

After the difficult years of the war, exhibition opportunities became increasingly frequent, and NasonMoretti began to take a leading role in several major shows in Italy and around the world.

Umberto Nason was awarded the Compasso d’Oro for the Lidia series, the first example of “reversed incamiciato” glass. This series of two-tone bowls and tumblers—white lattimo white on the outside and colored glass on the inside—marked a clear departure from Murano tradition, through an innovative technique and pure, chaste forms.

In 1962, the third designed collection stood out, establishing itself as an icon of the brand and appearing on the most exclusive tables, as well as in numerous private residences across Europe. The 3/62 collection is distinguished by its refined twisted (torsé) motif, paired with a simple geometric bowl and an elegant “trumpet” stem. Over time, these three elements have come to define a recognizable formal language, helping to shape the stylistic identity of NasonMoretti.

The glasswork was already embracing a minimal and versatile style that would fully align with the aesthetic of the 1990s. It was during these years that the color palette gradually began to move away from the soft, clear tones typical of traditional glassware, shifting toward bolder and more vibrant hues. The table setting became more contemporary, composed of fewer elements, with design taking center stage. 

NasonMoretti took part in the traveling exhibition (Paris, London, and Düsseldorf), promoted by the Veneto Region and the Chamber of Commerce to showcase local craftsmanship on an international stage. In the same year, the company began an intensive collaboration with Sergio Asti. The Milanese architect created a number of collections with NasonMoretti, which Alessandro Mendini would later describe as “a retrospective of his ‘love’ (tension, hypersensitivity) for glass.”

In the early 1990s, NasonMoretti produced stemware for the tableware collections of the most prestigious luxury brands. With the advent of the new millennium, the company entered a new phase marked by collaborations with artists and designers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

The company’s leadership was taken over by Giorgio, Marco, and Piero Nason.

The NM Museum project marks the beginning of an exciting journey into the rich history of our company. We have invested time and resources into researching our archives, carefully studying sketches, historical designs, and glass samples. Delving into our past has allowed us to curate a collection that now forms the heart of our museum. Today, our doors are open to small guided visits as well.

NasonMoretti reaches a major milestone: 100 years of activity—a century of glass and design.

To mark the occasion, an exhibition was organized on the island of Murano: a multi-year project within the official Glass Museum, aimed at retracing the first century of NasonMoretti through a selection of significant glassworks and archival materials from the company, primarily focused on the art of the table.
